Frost & Sullivan Commends Avigilon for Leading the Way in Networked Video Surveillance with its Technologically Advanced High Definition Surveillance System

PALO ALTO, Calif.--Based on its recent analysis of the North American networked video surveillance market, Frost & Sullivan recognized Avigilon with the 2007 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation in recognition of its state-of-the-art High Definition Surveillance System.

This Award recognizes Avigilon’s achievement in creating an end-to-end network-based solution for protecting critical assets and infrastructure that offers images of the highest quality and clarity due to its high performance multi-megapixel CCD IP cameras, high definition NVR software and intuitive client software.

“Avigilon’s tireless efforts to deliver improved performance led it to develop an IP-based high definition video management platform that leverages the latest technologies available in each of its components,” says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Dilip Sarangan. “Avigilon’s High Definition Surveillance System has been designed to capture the best surveillance footage and preserve this footage exactly as captured for post-incident investigation.”

These high levels of detail and exceptional image quality are possible because of the advanced compression techniques developed by Avigilon that allow lossless compression of video, which helps sustain the quality and detail of the captured video. This enables security personnel to review the video at the same high quality at which it was captured.
Avigilon offers a complete range of multi-megapixel IP cameras with resolutions up to 16 MP and all of them feature power over Ethernet connectivity and progressive scan CCD image sensors. This enables them to deliver 14-bit dynamic range and sensitivity across the visible spectrum and into the near-infrared.

Avigilon is also the first vendor in the video surveillance market to offer a 16 MP camera whose 4872x3248 pixel sensor allows 50 times more pixels to be captured than a standard VGA camera (640x480 pixels). This gives users a significant advantage where detail needs to be captured over a wide field of view such as at airports, borders, train stations and university campuses.

“In recognition of its technological superiority and consistent focus on delivering value to its customers by providing high performance, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective products, Frost & Sullivan is proud to present Avigilon with the 2007 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation in the networked video surveillance market,” says Sarangan. “Avigilon’s High Definition Surveillance System is widely used in government and law enforcement applications and is also poised for strong growth in the retail segment where it has immense potential.”

Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to the company that has demonstrated technological superiority within its industry. This Award recognizes the ability of the company to successfully develop and introduce new technology, formulate a well-designed product family, and make significant product performance contributions to the industry.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
