Avigilon HD Surveillance System helps officers reduce investigation time by 90 percent

VANCOUVER, CANADA – April 8, 2010 – Avigilon, the performance and value leader in high definition (HD) and megapixel video surveillance systems, today announced that the Chatham- Kent Police Service (CKPS) in Ontario, Canada has deployed the Avigilon High Definition Surveillance System to boost security at its headquarters and deliver detailed, irrefutable evidence to the court in an effort to more effectively meet disclosure requirements and achieve a higher rate of successful convictions. Using the Avigilon HD Surveillance System, police officers can reduce investigation times by 90 percent.

“After careful review and unanimous support from our board, Avigilon was quickly identified as the best surveillance solution to help us improve security onsite and provide the courts with the best evidence possible to successfully meet our disclosure requirements,” said Inspector Tim Mifflin. “Avigilon won based on performance, cost, and ease of operation.”

Officers and administrators at the CKPS seamlessly manage the Avigilon HD Surveillance System using Avigilon Control Center network video management software (NVMS) with HD Stream Management and installed 12 Avigilon Analog Video Encoders to dramatically improve the performance of its existing 48 analog cameras. The CKPS has also installed two Avigilon HD network video recorders (NVR) with automatic failover to store 30 days of continuous surveillance video with greater reliability and redundancy.

Avigilon Control Center software’s advanced functionality and superior audio-video synchronization capabilities have dramatically improved the Police Service’s ability to provide solid, high-quality evidence to the court, leading to a higher rate of conviction. Avigilon’s rich feature-set and simple management tools have enabled the Police Service to reduce the man- hours required to manage surveillance, reducing the time to search, playback, identify, and copy video to create a file for court purposes by 90 percent. Configured for automatic failover and full redundancy, the Avigilon HD Surveillance System delivers the reliability needed to ensure ongoing surveillance in the high-risk environment at CKPS headquarters, where suspects and prisoners are monitored 24x7.

“Avigilon Control Center’s advanced functionality, including its audio/video synchronization capabilities, gives the Chatham-Kent Police Service the tools needed to collect indisputable evidence to lead to conviction,” said Dave Tynan, vice president of global sales and marketing at Avigilon. “With superior image quality, simple management tools, and full redundancy, the Avigilon HD Surveillance System plays a critical role in the Chatham-Kent Police Service’s ability to deliver on its promise to provide a safer community for everyone.”
